Quiet Room Plans

Wednesday, May 25, 2016

DT Philly team members review the proposed quiet room plans at Mitchell School.

During DT Philly 2014-15, three students at S. Weir Mitchell School in southwest Philadelphia explored bullying and behavior problems in their school and proposed the development of a "quiet room"--a peaceful space to help students relax and deal with stress.  With the help of Doug Carney, senior vice president at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the students' idea is becoming reality as part of the schools' counseling suite!  Recently, the students met with Doug and Drexel student Patrick Gillen to review and discuss the plans Pat drew up.  The students had a few ideas, which have been incorporated into the plans, and installation is pending.
