A wonderful group of teachers took over the 3rd floor of the URBN Center at Drexel recently, completing design challenges that will help them teach their students how to solve problems creatively with design thinking. This year's DT Philly participants hail from Abraham Lincoln High School, Benjamin Franklin High School, Building 21, Cheltenham High School, George Washington High School, Kensington High School, New Foundations Charter School, Vaux Big Picture High School, Grover Washington, Jr. Middle School, Southern Middle School (Reading, PA), Tilden Middle School, Houston School, Longstreth School, Shawmont School, Welsh School, Carnell School, Crossroads Academy at Hunting Park, Disston School, Moffet School, and SLA Beeber. Teachers and students will spend the next few months exploring a problem that interests them through collaborative learning and hands-on problem solving, and they will come together in February to present and celebrate their work. Compete 360 is grateful to Jon Coddington and Drexel University for hosting this teacher training, and to Laura Butera, Andrew Ferrarelli, and Robert Melville for volunteering their time to facilitate the design sprint. Check back to see the exciting things these students and teachers will accomplish!
