Your project work for DT Philly is broken down into deliverables, inspiration activities, and achievement activities.
Deliverables are basic, required activities that guide your team through the design process. The points you earn for your deliverables count toward 50% of your final score at the DT Philly Showcase. You also earn points for achievement activities--optional activities that challenge you to go a step further in your design work. Achievement points do not count toward your score at the Showcase but they do have value: the team with the highest overall score gets to choose when they would like to present at the Showcase (plus achievement points help you climb the leaderboard and show you're going the extra mile).
Inspiration activities are optional activities that are quick and fun to do and prepare you for the design work you are about to begin. Each time you complete an inspiration activity, you earn one of these badges, which will be displayed on your team page. You’ll also get the design story that inspired each of these badges and learn how they relate to the current stage of your design work.
Learn more about badges and inspiration activities in the handbook.
Your team also has the opportunity to earn a 3D Puzzle. When you complete and upload all deliverables for a specific stage of your project, we'll mail you a piece of the puzzle and the corresponding image will appear on your team page. By the time you finish your project you will have a fun memento of your DT journey!
In addition, we have a team of design professionals who are volunteering their time to serve as project advisors and expert resources for your team. Collaborating with designers will strengthen your process, improve your solution, and introduce you to new skills and to the professional world of design. You can earn badges and bonus points for building your collaboration skills.
