Your project work for DT Philly is broken down into deliverables, inspiration activities, and achievement activities.
You earn points for deliverables (basic, required activities that will help guide your team through the DT process) and achievement activities (optional activities that challenge you to go one step further in your design work to help advance your project ). Deliverable points count toward 50% of your final score at the DT Philly Challenge. Achievement points do not count toward your score at the DT Philly Challenge but they do have a value – the team with the highest overall score (deliverable + achievement bonus points) gets to choose when they would like to present their project at the DT Philly Challenge (plus it puts you at the top of the leaderboard!).
Inspiration activities are optional activities that are usually quick and fun to do and are intended to inspire and prepare you for the stage of the design work you are about to begin. Each time you complete an inspiration activity, you will earn one of these badges, which will be displayed on your team page. You’ll also get the design story that inspired each of these badges and learn how they relate to the current stage of your design work.
Learn more about badges and inspiration activities in the handbook.
Your team also has the opportunity to earn a 3D Puzzle. Every time you complete and upload all of your deliverables for a specific stage of your project, we will mail you one piece of the puzzle and the corresponding image will appear on your team page. By the time you finish your project you will have a fun memento of your DT journey!
In addition, we have a team of design professionals who are volunteering their time to serve as project advisors and expert resources for your team. Collaborating with designers will strengthen your process, improve your solution, and introduce you to new skills and to the professional world of design. You can also earn badges and bonus points for building your collaboration skills.
