Assignment: Design Crimes

If a designer’s goal is to create solutions that are impactful, effective, satisfying, easy to understand, and easy to use, why is the world filled with products that frustrate us, pose a danger, or are just plain unnecessary?  The cards in your activity kit describe and depict design crimes you don’t want to commit.  Discuss the items pictured.  What would it be like for you or people you know to use them?  Then match the offending objects to their crimes (some may be guilty of more than one).  Afterwards, put your DT Philly designs to the test and see if they run the risk of being flagged for crimes against good design.  Share your evaluations of the objects pictured and identify where your DT Philly designs may be falling short.
